      King Street School was built in 1921 on the block bounded by King, Dunlop, Henry, and Gilbert Streets. It was built to replace Henry Street School which burned down in 1920. In 1979 it was renamed R.A. Sennett Public School in honour of its first principal who served from 1921-1952.

      After the First World War, several wooden freighters were beached on the sand bar in Whitby harbour. For many years, Whitby Town Council appealed to the Canadian federal government to have them removed. In 1935, they were towed out into Lake Ontario and sunk.

      Dundas Street School, also known as the model school, was built in 1875 on the north side of Dundas Street west of Garden Street. It was demolished in the early 1960s but additions from the 1950s remained and were renamed Florence Heard Public School in 1974.

      Inverlynn house was built in 1860 for William Laing at 1300 Gifford Street. In 1870, Inverlynn was purchased by George McGillivray. Since 1870, the house has belonged to descendants of the McGillivray family.

      Whiteface is a natural cliff of white clay on the north side of Lynde Creek opposite the north end of Wellington St. It was a popular play area for Whitby children.
