      The stamp is of Edward VII wearing the Ermine Robes of State. He died in 1910 which helps date the era of this postcard and message. The postmark reads: "BRONTE J? ?5 ONT.".

      In 1951, the Ford Motor Company purchased land in Oakville, Ontario for an office, assembly plant and yards. The plant was built by 1953.

      Colborne Street was originally called The Lake Road. The Lake Road was considerably improved by Sir John Colborne in his time as Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada so the Oakville section was renamed Colborne Street in his honour. It was renamed Lakeshore Road in 1964.

      It could be thought from the post mark that it was dated 1950 but Norine's surname was Smith after her marriage in 1937. So, the year is uncertain but the artistic style is circa the 1930's. E. Weaver, the artist, specialized in comic post cards.

      Mabel was born and raised in Zimmerman, Nelson Township, Halton County. Zimmerman was at Appleby and 2nd Lines. She was a collector of postcards of Hamilton, sometimes swapping them with friends, as per notes on some of them.

      Mrs. W. Smith of Palermo was Mabel (Bridgman) Smith. She was born and raised in Zimmerman, Nelson Township, Halton County. Zimmerman was at Appleby and 2nd Lines.

      Arthur is referred to in a family history as a seaman but in 1918, he took over the family farm in Palermo which was at Lot 34, Concession 1, South of Dundas Street.

      This post office is now part of the John Sopinka Court House. The marvellous old marble hall with the postal wickets and large tables still exists on the ground floor running north from Main Street and the (now gone) clock tower.

      A postcard showing the beach and waterfront buildings of Bronte, Ontario. The black and white photograph was taken sometime between 1904 and 1918.

      Funeral cards for husband and wife, Thomas and Elizabeth Dent. They lived at Agerton Corners, Trafalgar Township and both are buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Milton. Thomas had emigrated with his parents from England at about age 12.
