      The Courthouse cannons were installed at the Citadel in Halifax in 1879 and were declared surplus in 1902 when Colonel John Edwin Farewell, Ontario County Clerk, acquired two for the Ontario County Courthouse in Whitby.       This brick house was built for building contractor Thomas Deverell in 1861. An addition was constructed at the back of the house, at left in the 1980s.

      This house was built circa 1887 for John Jabez Lynde (1864-1939). It was demolished in March 1967, and replaced by a dentist's office for Dr. John Davies.
