      The town of Nolalu was named after the Northland Lumber Company. In this photograph, the first building is the old Bishop Store (~1907). The building in the background is the Arola's home, when it had only two rooms. The building that is farthest back is the steam bath.

      This black and white photo shows the railroad crew lifting the track from the Port Arthur Duluth Railway around the Nolalu area. The rails were later used for ammunition production in World War II.
