      Uptown Service Station, operated by the Patterson Brothers, was located on Manitoba Street, Bracebridge, next door to the Bracebridge Public Library, part of which can be seen on the right side of the photo. The Old Station restaurant now operates on this site.

      The Rene Caisse Cancer Clinic opened on August 26, 1935 on Dominion Street in Bracebridge, in the building formerly known as the British Lion Hotel. People came from all over seeking treatment for cancer with the herbal tea that Rene Caisse called Essiac.

      Santa's Village, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2015, was the result of the vision and hard work of a group of Bracebridge businessmen headed by banker, Yorke Murphy.

      A serious fire broke out early Monday morning December 28th 1908 along the east side of Manitoba Street, destroying several businesses in the heart of downtown Bracebridge. Firefighters were hampered by ice forming due to the severe cold.

      Tennant's sawmill, on the shores of the north branch of the Muskoka River in Bracebridge, was established on the former Hess Furniture site by George Tennant in 1909. It later became the site of Northern Planing Mills, then Northern Buildall.
