      Lilly (Lillian) Bailey (née McPhail) and Hugh Bailey (Agnes Macphail's sister and brother-in-law)

      Both sisters of Agnes Macphail married before 1921.

      Inscription on a photocopied version of this image says: "1953 Agnes Macphail just a while before she died. Taking her home from hospital"; "far left Gertha Reany, Jean Clunas, Agnes, Sandy Macphail [sic]". A family member has since identified the identity of the woman on the left as Lilly Bailey.

      Group at League of Nations meeting in Geneva. Grey County Member of Parliament, Agnes Macphail is present [see insert]. Miss Macphail was Canada's first female delegate to the League. She attended the 10th Annual meeting.

      A. A. MacLeod was the Labour Progressive Party (LPP) Member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing the riding of Bellwoods in Toronto (1943-1951). Agnes Macphail was Member of the Legislative Assembly for York East.

      A written description of the photograph by a family member states: "far left Aggie and her sister Lilly Bailey and Jean and Lena Bailey" The wooden structure, road and fence line in the background suggests that this photo was taken at their parents' farm at Six Corners, Artemesia.

      The girl on the right has been identified in the records at Grey Roots Museum and Archives as Lilly Bailey. However, a family member asserts that Lilly had different coloured eyes and thinks this woman may be a friend of Agnes' from school.

      Wearing a light coloured, short-sleeved dress with embroidery, lacework or beading, with pince-nez spectacles and 'marcelled' hair, this portrait of Agnes Macphail was taken in Ottawa shortly after her election to Parliament in 1921.

      Agnes Macphail's parents, Henrietta Campbell McPhail and Dugald McPhail at their farm in Artemesia Township, Ontario.

      Dougald and Henrietta bought and moved into this house at Highway 4 and Jane St. in 1925. Dougald died in 1930 and Henrietta in 1937, at which time Agnes Macphail took over the house. A family member helped identify the group members.

      Agnes attended Owen Sound Collegiate Institute from 1906-1908 when this photograph may have been taken.
