      Wilfrid Laurier University is located in Waterloo, Ontario. It began in 1911 as the Evangelical Lutheran Seminary of Canada. In 1924 Waterloo College was established, providing courses in post-secondary education. In 1960 Waterloo College became Waterloo Lutheran University, and in 1973 changed its name to Wilfrid Laurier University.

      This view is looking east from the residence of Peter Lofthouse which was located on the top of the hill on the south side of Kingston Road (Highway 2) at the west side of the valley where the Whitby-East Whitby border was located.

      Ernest Northam was perhaps the greatest athlete in the history of Whitby High School. He won the Sir Hector Langevin Cup successively for four years between 1926-1929.

      King Street School was built in 1921 on the block bounded by King, Dunlop, Henry, and Gilbert Streets. It was built to replace Henry Street School which burned down in 1920. In 1979 it was renamed R.A. Sennett Public School in honour of its first principal who served from 1921-1952.

      Sinclair School was built on the north side of Concession 4 (Taunton Road) east of Garden Street in 1874. It was used as a school until it closed in 1979. Sinclair School was demolished in 1992.

      Herbert Gunson served as Whitby's Police Chief from 1927-1930. He came from Toronto and became Police Chief at St. Thomas after having left Whitby.

      John Frost served Whitby from 1923-1971 as assistant clerk treasurer, clerk treasurer, and Town administrator. Herbert Gunson was Police Chief from 1927-1930.
