      The Vorvis Trophy was annually presented to a person who has consistently contributed to sports in Whitby. Harry Vorvis, the trophy's creator, was the owner of Maple Leaf Billiards. He first presented the trophy in 1948.

      The flags were dedicated at a special Children's Service on October 15, 1950, in memory of Mrs. William H. Pring (Audrey Noreen Town), 1915-1937, who died at the Oshawa General Hospital on August 19, 1937. The flags were a gift of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. town.

      This house was built for Andrew M. Ross, a Whitby merchant, in 1879. He was Mayor of Whitby from 1900 to 1902. His daughter, Marcia Ross, lived in the house until her death in 1979.

      The Blacksmith's shop was located on the east side of Ashburn Road south of the 9th Concession of Whitby Township. In the 1950s or 60s it was covered with brick and converted into a residence.

      Joe Stevens (1881-1963) was a commercial fisherman at Port Whitby from 1917 until his death. In 1947, he built a fishing boat which he named the 'Shirley S.', after his daughter. The boat was was in use until the mid 1960s and was broken up in 1978.

      The lighthouse was built at the end of the west pier in 1857 and removed during reconstruction of the piers in 1958.

      The Brunton Lumber Company was built at Whitby Harbor in 1941. The company manufactured ammunition boxes for Defense Industries Limited in Ajax during the Second World War. The company was later sold to General Mills and was destroyed by fire on February 8, 1951.

      Gordon Neal was born at Oshawa on 27 August 1931 and died at Oshawa on 26 October 2010. He played baseball for the Whitby Merchants and worked in his father's barber shop in Whitby.
