      About 1884 Evor Leonard opened an R.S. McLaughlin carriage dealership on Division Street in downtown Cobourg. With the arrival of the motor car his shop became the first outlet in the Cobourg area to sell the McLaughlin buick. The carriage business operated into the 1930s.

      This church was located on King St. West, between Spring and Durham St. south side. For three years after 1925 (union forming United) it was known as King Street United Church, but closed its doors in 1928.

      Located on the north side of King Street east of where the Bank of Nova Scotia used to be. In 1981 it housed the Cable TV company and in 1984 it became the Happy Sole Shoe Repair Shop.

      The Bank of Toronto came to Cobourg in the early 1850s.

      The Cobourg Public Library was located on 90 King Street West from 1889 to 1964.

      Baseball appeared in Cobourg in the mid 1860s when it was imported from the United States. It more closely resembled softball back then and was often in competition for popularity with cricket and lacross. The first Cobourg Baseball Club was organized in 1894.

      This race-meet started on King at College Street. Behind the trees at the left is Lakeview House, farther west is the Arlington Hotel.
