      In 1940, LongLac Pulp and Paper Co. conceived the idea of developing the town of Terrace Bay, and by 1958, the paper mill changed its name to Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Co. This area had a suitable natural harbour for loading and unloading of lake freighters and rail transportation that …

      Jackfish Bridge was constructed by the CPR around 1884-85 with the last spike being driven at mileage 102.7 about three km west of Jackfish, May 16, 1885. The booming railway added to the growth of settlements, big lake freighters, commercial fishing in Rossport, Port Coldwell and Jackfish.

      The decision to develop the town of Terrace Bay was first conceived in the early 1940's by the Longlac Pulp and Paper Company. The name was changed to Kimberly-Clark in 1958.

      View of the coal chutes at Jackfish, Ontario. The chutes were loaded manually by a crew of 300 men. It was not unusual for them to work overtime for up to three days, until the steamship was loaded.
