      This photo was taken of Windermere House on Lake Rosseau in its early days before it expanded in 1902, adding a second tower. By the 1890s, the resort could accommodate 220 guests.

      The arrival of the railroad in 1886 marked the beginning of a new settlement near Falkenburg, which came to be known as Falkenburg Station. this was once a major siding for CN trains, operating until the early 1960s just a few kilometers north of Bracebridge.

      This image shows the Falkenburg train station in later years with a small addition to the left. Looks like the dog has treed the cat!

      The Candy Cane Express was added to Santa's Village in 1963 and soon became a favourite with families. This photo shows it about to leave the station.

      These little mouse figurines could easily be spotted by youngsters enjoying the ride on the Candy Cane Express train.

      This is the home of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Moon, across the street from the Bracebridge High School, where Mr. Moon was the caretaker. Looks like 1944 was a heavy snowfall winter in Bracebridge.

      The train station in Bracebridge was located on the east side of town, as you approach on the current Taylor Road. The date of this photo is unknown.

      these cottages were added to the main lodge at Rostrevor Resort on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka, sometime in the 1940s. In those days, guests arrived aboard the steamer Sagamo.

      This cottage and others were added to the main lodge of Rostrevor Resort sometime after the 1940s. During the war, guests arrived aboard the steamer Sagamo. Many families returned year after year.

      These and other cottages were added to Rostrevor Resort on lake Rosseau, sometime after the 1940s. The original resort had been established in 1898 and continued in some form until the 1980s.

      After years as a museum, the Segwun was restored and re-launched in 1974. Improvements to the ship continued into the 1980s with the removal of state rooms and the addition of modern equipment. June 27 1981 marked her return to cruising the Muskoka lakes.

      The original building opened in 1926 as Bracebridge High School but changed its name in 1964 to Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School. Numerous additions have been made over the years but the school was closed in 2005 and a new school built in conjunction with the Sportsplex and Rene …

      Bracebridge Memorial Community Centre opened officially in January 1949. Now (2018) referred to as Bracebridge Arena, it continues to serve the community.

      This view is looking south over what will become the Wellington St. bridge crossing the Muskoka River in Bracebridge, 1984. The bridge would reduce traffic jams on Manitoba Street but prevent the Segwun steamer from passing.
