      Abbey Lane Public Elementary School is located at 1160 Old Abbey Lane Road, Oakville. It is southeast of the old S.S. No. 16 location.

      A lovely silk hand-stitched and embroidered postcard sent from France by Canadian soldier George Hawkins to his friend in Trafalgar Township, Ruth Cullingworth. These postcards were made by French people trying to exist in the thick of the war to sell to soldiers.

      Note the horse and buggy going up the hill in the top picture, and it's hard to see, but possibly two people with a car to the right. These steep valley hillside roads were sometimes referred to by local people as "hogback" roads.

      Note the two women standing on the bridge. Their long dresses and the power lines indicate this photograph may have been taken around 1920.

      George and Polly King had 11 children. They enjoyed many family gatherings over the years on the family farms along Dundas at the Sixteen, and on the Sixteen flats. When they all got together with their children and grandchildren, it was a large gathering.
