      This model barn was built in 1903 on Maple Shade Farm (residence of John Dryden) on lot 20 of Concession 7, east of Thickson Road in Whitby Township. It was built for John Dryden (1840-1909) who was Ontario's Minister of Agriculture from 1890-1905. The barn was demolished c.2000.

      Allin's drug store was located at 100 Dundas Street West (on the north west corner of Dundas and Brock Streets). Mr. Allin operated the store from 1896 to 1945. The building where the drugstore was located was called Gerrie's Block. This building was built for James H. Gerrie in 1873.

      This grocery store was located at 106 Brock Street North (on the west side of Brock Street, one door north of Allin's Drug Store. The wooden doors at the right of the photograph close off a passageway for deliveries to the back of the stores.

      The Charles Lynde family lived on the south half of lot 32 of Concession 4 in Whitby Township. The Lynde family originally arrived in Whitby Township in 1804 and settled in the area known as Lynde Creek.

      This brick house was built in 1883 for Lyman T. Barclay, a Whitby lawyer. It was later owned by James Rutledge who died in 1914. Richard Norman Bassett then owned the house and sold it in 1951 when it was divided into apartments.

      The Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.

      Dundas Street School, also known as the model school, was built in 1875 on the north side of Dundas Street west of Garden Street. It was demolished in the early 1960s but additions from the 1950s remained and were renamed Florence Heard Public School in 1974.

      The residence of James Keith Gordon is located at 316 Colborne Street West on the north-east corner of King and Colborne Streets. James Keith Gordon was a lawyer in Whitby. The William Gordon family landed at Whitby Township in 1838.
