      Three members of the Charles hales family: Elizabeth "Kate" (Young) Hales (1858-?), William Hales (1868-1939), and Margaret Hales (1869-1938).

      According to one of the school children, a McPhee who remembers the picnic, Agnes Macphail spoke to the group from a platform. The McPhee extended family tended to vote Liberal, but had voted for Agnes Macphail and were happy to have her at this picnic.

      Agnes Macphail was one of five presenters in the 1928 Chautauqua Lecture Series touring Canada. Agnes' lecture was titled "Woman and This Changing World".
