      The original Whitby Dunlops were founded in 1954 when the 1952-53 Oshawa Generals were disbanded after their arena burned down.       The Brock Street Public School was built in 1916 on the east side of Brock Street south of Victoria Street. Also known as the Bay School, it served Port Whitby until it closed in 1969. The building was demolished in 1998.

      This mill was once the largest white pine mill east of the rockies. More information about the logging days of this area can be found in the book Logging Days in Blind River by Carl Kauffmann, available at the Timber Village Museum.

      The Goldring Store was located at 1506 Brock Street South. From the 1890s until 1911, the store was operated by the Jackson family. The Goldring family operated the store from 1911 to 1967 when the building was demolished.

      The waterspout occurred around 3pm on 26 January 1994 about 30 miles from the shore. It was 300 feet wide and 1600 feet high.

      Joe Stevens (1881-1963) was a commercial fisherman at Port Whitby from 1917 until his death. In 1947, he built a fishing boat which he named the 'Shirley S.', after his daughter. The boat was was in use until the mid 1960s and was broken up in 1978.

      Designed by Brooklin resident Lylia McBrien, the Brooklin Public Library was oifficially opened on 8 February 1961 by Ontario's Minister of Education, John Robarts. The library served for 49 years until it was demolished in 2010 and replaced with a new library.

      Located in the Hopedale district of Bronte at Third Line and Rebecca Street. It was built as an open strip mall in 1959 with the development of the surrounding subdivision. In 1971, it was enclosed and became Hopedale Mall.
