      The railway station for the Port Whitby and Port perry Railway was built in 1870 at 415 Dundas Street East. It was used as a station until 1963 and demolished in 1969.

      This arena was originally built by George Carmack and William Barnes in 1889. Fred Burns enlarged it in 1913. Ernie Taylor operated the arena until 1953, when it was dismantled and rebuilt in Tara, Ontario.

      Deverell Motors was operated by Robert M. Deverell until he retired in 1953. The building, located at 301 Dundas Street West, was built in 1915 and demolished in 1964.

      The buildings at right, the Oddfellows Hall (Mercantile Department Store and the Lowes and Powell Block) and the Canadian Imperial Back of Commerce were demolished in April 1964 and replaced by a new Bank of Commerce building.

 Daily Times-Gazette (Whitby, ON), 8 February 1951     The Brunton Lumber Company was built at Whitby Harbor in 1941. The company manufactured ammunition boxes for Defense Industries Limited in Ajax during the Second World War. The company was later sold to General Mills and was destroyed by fire on February 8, 1951.
