      King Street School was built in 1921 at 300 King Street. It was built to replace Henry Street School which burned down in 1920. In 1979 it was renamed R.A. Sennett Public School in honour of its first principal who served from 1921-1952.

      After the First World War, several wooden freighters were beached on the sand bar in Whitby harbour. For many years, Whitby Town Council appealed to the Canadian federal government to have them removed. In 1935, they were towed out into Lake Ontario and sunk.

      This maybe the Sundridge Public School.

      Dundas Street School, also known as the model school, was built in 1875 on the north side of Dundas Street west of Garden Street. It was demolished in the early 1960s but additions from the 1950s remained and were renamed Florence Heard Public School in 1974.

      The Hewis Brothers Butchers replaced their butcher cart with a truck around the 1920s. Henry James (Harry) Hewis was born in 1894 and died at Oshawa 20 February 1968. He was in the butcher business with his father, William Edward Hewis (1865-1964) and his brother, William George David Hewis (1897-1990).

      John Thomas (1885-1950) served as Whitby's night watchman in the downtown area from 1921-1949. He was born in Wales and lived in Whitby for most of his life.

      Henry James (Harry) Hewis was born in 1894 and died at Oshawa 20 February 1968. He was in the butcher business with his father, William Edward Hewis (1865-1964) and his brother, William George David Hewis (1897-1990).
