      Building owned by R.J. Sproule held several business and took up the entire block.

      There was no high school located between Orangeville and Owen Sound so children normally didn't go to school after turning 14 unless they had the means to board elsewhere. In 1910 land was bought from William and John Boyd to build the areas first continuation school.

      The Advance was originally on Sydenham Street but moved to this two-storey location in 1900 where it was printed for another 68 years before moving again.
