      The school has had many alterations to the structure as the student population increased. In 1924 the school was reclassified a Collegiate Institute and was renamed the Oshawa Collegiate Institute.       The school opened in 1889 and closed in 1932. The building was demolished and Central Collegiate Institute was constructed on the site. The site is now home to Village Union Public School.

      Built in 1837 by J. B. Warren, this flour mill was run by him until 1865 after which it changed possession numerous times until it was demolished in 1981. It was located on the east side of the Oshawa Creek on King Street, in an area known as the Hollow.

      To deal with unsatisfactory health conditions in the town, sixty women from various churches established the Hospital Auxiliary in 1907 to raise funds for the building of a hospital. Originally built and opened in 1910, it housed a Nursing School until the program merged with Durham College in the 1970s. …
