      Articles appeared daily with no shortage of fodder regarding the construction of the Eldorado plant in Blind River. One of its biggest supporters were the residents of the Chiblow Mississauga Indian band seeing jobs and opportunity. On the other hand some local citizens continued to rally against it.

      A meeting was held in Blind River for the public attended by Eldorado Nuclear, the AECB, Lummus of Canada, Environment Canada, and Health and Welfare Canada on May 10, 1981 to address jobs, waste disposal and other issues.

      The Blind River Standard published this article recalling the heyday of the logging industry in the Blind River area. Including the chain of ownership of the mill that provided many jobs in Blind River for years.

      In March of 1981 the Blind River council was attempting to establish a committee to monitor the Eldorado Plant operations. Some of the issues to be resolved were funding, access to information and the site, salaries or lack thereof for committee members and other things.
