      The Whitby District High School (Henry Street High School) was built between 1953 and 1954. It was officially opened by Dr. C.F. Cannon, Deputy Minister of Education, on 5 November 1954. The chimney was built before the rest of the school was constructed.

      Inverlynn house was built in 1860 for William Laing at 1300 Gifford Street. In 1870, Inverlynn was purchased by George McGillivray. Since 1870, the house has belonged to descendants of the McGillivray family.

      Albert Randall operated a plumbing and heating business on Chestnut Street from 1951 until his death in 1993. Randall served as a member of the Whitby Public Utilities Commission and the Whitby Hydro-Electric Commission from 1954 to 1985.

      Hillcrest School was built in 1950 on the north side of Walnut Street, east of Cochrane Street. Around 1965 it was renamed E.A. Fairman Public School, after a former Supervising Principal of Whitby Schools.

      The Brock Street Public School was built in 1916 on the east side of Brock Street south of Victoria Street. Also known as the Bay School, it served Port Whitby until it closed in 1969. The building was demolished in 1998.

      Sinclair School was built on the north side of Concession 4 (Taunton Road) east of Garden Street in 1874. It was used as a school until it closed in 1979. Sinclair School was demolished in 1992.

      Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.
