      Simcoe St. Methodist (now United) church was constructed in 1867 as a response to overcrowding of the previous facility on King St. It originally cost $15,000 to build, and was completely renovated from 1911-1915. In 1925 the church was renamed Simcoe St. United Church.

      The area was constructed around 1910 and used as living quarters for workers from England who came for employment in Malleable Iron Foundry.

      The church was built in 1863, was later merged with the Methodist church and 1913, the congregation moved to the corner of King and Charles Streets to become King Street United Church. This church was demolished sometime afterwards.
