      Sarah Stanton was the daughter of Isaac Brock Stanton of Ottawa. Around 1869 she married Roderick Pringle of Cobourg. Sarah had three sisters and as young women they were known as the "Four Graces". One of her sisters, Julia, married Harold Dillon, 13th Viscount Dillon.

      Archibald Lampman was a Canadian poet. He spent his boyhood at Rice Lake and attended Cobourg Collegiate in the 1870's.

      William Tourje was a hardware merchant and tinsmith. His shop was on King Street in Cobourg. He was born on May 22, 1813 and died July 26, 1886. He is buried in Hull's Corner Cemetery.
