      In this rough draft of a letter written to the mayor and corporation of Paris, Capron complains about the poor condition of the William Street bridge crossing Smiths Creek.       This brief note contains a listing of Capron’s land holdings in 1867 and an estimate of their values. He notes that “several small pieces of lots [are] not counted.” He valued his land at $77,300. The reverse lists the value of a number of bank notes.

      Known as “Hill House,” this home was built in 1867 by Watson Parish. After his death, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Beale lived here for many years while Hubert practiced law next door. About 1986 Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hill purchased the home and named it “Hill House.”

      There is a small error in the page numbering in this ledger. There are two pages labeled 102 and 103. This error has been preserved in this online edition.
