 Unknown, Whitby Gazette and Chronicle (1912), 1858     The Grand Trunk Hotel was located on the south side of the Grand Trunk Railway (Canadian National Railway), east of the Victoria Street Crossing. It was built about 1856 and was destroyed by fire on 3 August 1896. The proprietor in 1858 was Thomas Lloyd.
