      W.J. Medland and Son Ltd. was established in 1942 in an old stable behind Brooklin House Hotel (Legion Hall). The business celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2002 and in September 2002 the building was demolished.

      Designed by Brooklin resident Lylia McBrien, the Brooklin Public Library was oifficially opened on 8 February 1961 by Ontario's Minister of Education, John Robarts. The library served for 49 years until it was demolished in 2010 and replaced with a new library.
